When it comes to that privileged list of the richest people in the world, it is normal to see a constant rise and fall.
And that is exactly the case with the recent Warren Buffett’s drop in rank, from among the top five to 8th on the Bloomberg Billionaire Index.
The is his lowest position since the index came out in 2012. But part of his fall from the top tier is due to the philanthropic fact that he’s given away $37 billion to charity since 2006.
He is giving out that much because of his pledge to give his wealth to charity. And it was recently reported that he had informed shareholders that it will now take 12 to 15 years for his estate to unload all the shares he holds at the time of his death. 1
